I can only imagine you're joking, by playing it up as one of the people who go out of their way to be offended, but just in case you aren't: how is it racist? OK it depicts slavery... is that racist? It shows white slave traders and owners in a poor light... is that racist?
It's a romp very, very much in the same vein as Inglourious Basterds. Was that fascist?
It doesn't really matter if it is 'a romp'. It can still be racist. The fact is that you are a white person living in a white world. You have no idea what it is like to live in a world which was shaped by slavery. I do because my husband is black. I don't think that you really qualify for an opinion as to whether this film is racist or not.

As someone married to a white woman,I've no idea whether something is racist or not!
The difference is whether you are capable of experiencing racism. Unless you are in a position to do this you will never truly know what it is. Accepting this as fact, how can you as a white person possibly be qualified to say whether something is or is not racist?

Stop talking rubbish. I don't have to experience something to know whether it's good or bad, or spot the signs. Ever been stabbed? No? Well how do you know you wouldn't enjoy it?
Ignoring you rudeness, I will try to address the issue.
It's clear to me that society still has massive prejudices against black people, and that much of this is a direct legacy of slavery. Make no mistake, the hangover of slavery has left black people (and their wives/husbands) facing an uphill struggle in what is essentially a white world. To recognize this is possible if you are not black, but a white person can never claim to really understand racism.

It's obvious from the tone of Royroy's posting that he is white, if he was not surely he would have a duty to make this clear. In which case it is not my fault but his.

PS we all live in the same world which was indeed shaped by slavery, as anyone who bothers to know a teensy bit of history can tell you.
Its very easy for white people like you to be flippant on this issue. But the fact is that it represents an equality which you are the beneficiary of, so to make light of this is in the most awful taste. You are a white woman living in a white world. I know your mindset because it's the mindset I used to have before I challenged social racism in the hardest and bravest way possible, to sleep with and marry a black man. The simple truth is that by extension i am capable of really experiencing the racism which still pervades society against black people. You are not.

I'm genuinely interested (I'm not married to a black man, neither am I one): in what ways do you feel this film is racist? Have you seen it? Has your husband? What does he think? And why? I really am interested, as I've never really thought Tarantino is racist before and I can accept that I seldom experience racism...
I think the fact of the matter is that racism in entrenched in society. We all need to come to terms with what slavery was, how it affected our culture, and how it continues to affect the lives of black people. Are we all racist? I am not obviously because I sleep with and am married to a black man, however it follows logically that if society is racist then all white people in it are racist. You are racist without knowing it and is it really so wrong for black people and even their husbands/wives to demand atonement?

I have to confess that before the LHC was built I didn't really know what a Hadron was.
Previously I'd thought it was a typo of the medical term used to describe the effect of Viagra.

Things To Do Before The End Of The World

Polemos, have you thought about death? If the world is really about to end, it might be something worth pondering. Like killing yourself or killing a bunch of people. Think about it. Not just for personal kicks, you could actually contribute to science by risking your life in some experiment! Here's an idea: how about playing Shroedinger's cat to proove to yourself the Everett interpretation? Sounds like fun. If I was so sure the world is about to end, I would certainly try it. Also I would try a lot of other things, like running naked on the street, showing up naked in some TV live show and speaking out my mind, riding the metro or the bus naked, and a lot of other things that involve public nudity. Good luck!

@pinkdwin - maybe the immigrants sneak out in the dark of night, and STEAL the asphalt, and take it back to their filthy hovels and eat it, or have sex with it, or worship it in twisted religious practices, and then in the morning a sweetly pretty fair English maiden on her bicycle, with a wicker basket on the front full of kittens and food for old people, falls into the pothole and DIES.
The vicious dirty bastards.

I think if the Steam forum people teamed up with 4chan, they'd have the cure for cancer knocked out in a week and solve the Voynich manuscript before dinner.
